October….. the 10th Month of the year. It usually concludes each year with some significance for those who live in Britain, because it’s ‘allegedly’ the month the nations celebrate black history. One local school for its part made an effort to educate their primary one pupils.

One of the students, delighted about her first lesson on the subject matter told her mum “they were talking about the girl in my book - Ruby Bridges”. While both parents were delighted to hear this, they still seem concerned that the child had experienced racism without knowing at three years old.

While it is commendable that some institutions are making efforts to teach this challenging subject and the #heritage of those involved, how are those affected educating the next generation on the issue; because waiting on a government institution until a child turns three, apparently is too late. Why, because racism is taught and learnt.....at a very early age.
