Inclusive… taking a great deal or everything within its scope; comprehensive, including the specified extremes or limits as well as the area between them.
When engaging in anything that has to do with humans as a collective, should inclusivity be at the top of our agenda?
"Parenting isn’t just about raising children, it is about having the courage and determination to give birth to a new world," says Francesca Cavallo. For her that new world is one of inclusivity that inspired her to create none stereotypical stories about young girls with the aim of widening the narrative for children. It takes courage to go against the norm and rewrite the narrative.
Ruth B. Chitiya on rewriting the narrative said, in order to find the stories she was looking for, she knew that she needed to write them herself. Why, because she wanted her children to read authentic stories that speak to their #heritage, faith…and only someone like her can write them she said.
We need more of this type of inclusivity because only 5% of children’s books published in the UK (2019) had an ethnic minority main character according to CLPE.
Is your dream or passion inclusive enough that it speaks to all #heritage?
