Politics…the set of activities associated with making decisions and governance of a country or an area, the debate between parties and the relations between individuals parties having powers.
At the most basic politics is a set of activities infused by a group of individuals common “constantly evolving” ideologies, but most importantly ideologies started by a single individual with a mission resolve how best we should live and operate in a shared space called community.
How does one then embrace another individual's mission to the extent that it that they take on these ideologies as their identity? Some build their entire hopes, dreams, feelings, happiness and joy on someones else’s set of ideas and ideals, so much so that it determines the direction of their life and not just their identity. That is a lot of power to give to another mere finite human being just because they lead a set of activities.
To allow one to take control of your mental and emotional being like an out of control rollercoaster can only lead to self destruction, because another human can’t fix all your problems from a they a temporary seat of power. Timothy Keller puts it this way,… this accounts for the constant political cycles of overblown hopes and disillusionment.
These set of activities that develop into ideologies eventually become a mission presented to all individuals to “make a choice”, but the fact is the very mission could sometimes become so blurry that it looks nothing like the original intended goal. Could that be the point when one should ask themselves what does political loyalty mean, and how are my choices effecting positive change and affecting other humans around me. Am I still following the mission or the missionary or fallen slave following to the system, because no one party is perfect.
Is your loyalty to the politics, to those in power, an individual, or the mission? Has the politics become your religion the very centre of your being that it defines your identity and your worth that you are constantly tossed to-and-fro.
